Competitive 4-on-4 Volleyball Tournament

 

Check in: Each Team player must check-in before team is allowed to take the court. Each team roster will be checked before each game to ensure that all players on the court are on that team roster and are registered players. All Tourney participants must sign a liability waiver before they may play.

Game Format: Double Elimination Tournament. Games will utilize rally scoring; whereby the team that wins the rally will be awarded a point. Serves that touch the net and pass over into the opponent’s court will not be legal. A match is won by the team that wins the best of three games. A game is won by the team which first scores 21 points with minimum lead of two points. A deciding game (third game) is won by the team which first scores 15 points with a minimum lead of two points, but the games must end with score not going higher than 23 and 17.

Legal ball contact: The ball must be hit, not caught or thrown. The ball may touch any part of the body. During the first hit of the team, the ball may contact various parts of the body consecutively, provided that the contacts occur during one action. The contact must be closed fingers no open finger contact and may not use feet. A fault results from contacting the ball twice in succession by the same player during 2nd & 3rd hits.

Hits: No open handed dinks allowed. Hand must be closed unless setting or striking the ball. The contact must be closed fingers no open finger contact.

Players’ positions and rotation: Players may start and play anywhere on their side of the court. There is no attack line. Service order must be obeyed. Players can penetrate under the net provided they don’t interfere with opponent.

Ball out of play: If the ball hits the backboard while serving or when in play, replay the rally. The basketball backboards will be left in their normal position during the games. Replay the rally if the ball hits the ceiling or lights and crosses over the net on opponent’s side. If the ball hits the ceiling or the divider it is out.

Injuries: If a player is injured, play will stop immediately. Tournament staff in accordance with normal operating procedures will treat all injuries for all guests.

Inappropriate Behavior: Any behavior deemed inappropriate in any way by the referee’s, the league coordinator or any Tournament staff will result in immediate ejection from the game and possible ejection from the tournament with no refund. Players will be ejected for fighting, swearing, and arguing with the referee or any type of inappropriate behavior. Captains and Co-Captains may ask a referee a question for clarification but any arguing with the referee will result in immediate ejection. The tournament commissioner may make decisions regarding ejection from the Tournament. If a player ejection causes a team to be less than 4 players, a 10-min break will be allowed for the team to find a replacement. The replacement player must be a registered player of the tournament, this includes a player of an already eliminated team.

Disputes: Any dispute between teams or players should be resolved as soon as possible. If the players or team captains can not resolve the dispute, the tournament commissioner will make a ruling. If it is irresolvable the play will be redone.
