Congratulations to the 2017 CouGEARS for their performance in the 2017 First Robotics qualifying event Saturday, December 9th in Oxford, Michigan. Our middle school students Caitlyn Brown,  Michael Chappell, Gabriel Crawford, and Seth Holland worked together to build and program their robot, generate their engineering notebook, and create their website www.AHCSCouGEARS.com. Our team competed against teams from Clarkston, Oxford, Lake Orion, Novi, and others. After 5 matches, the team finished the competition 25th out of 36 teams with 345 total points!

As part of the competition, students present their engineering notebook and present their design. Our students prayed together in front of other teams before they entered the judging room.  God went in before them. I have never been more proud of the professional presentation that our four students gave to the judges. Our team took second place for the Judges Award which is awarded by FIRST judges to a team whose unique efforts, performance or dynamics merit recognition, but doesn't fit into any of the existing award categories.

We appreciate all the support of team parents, without whose support our students could not have been on the team.  The support of the parents also means that our students maintained a strong academic commitment during the months of practices leading up to the competition. Thank you to those that supported the team as mentors -Jonathan Repphun, Bryce Goss, and Everett White. Thank you to our sponsors, the Casto and Crawford families, who funded the team. Thank you to our coaches Micah Goss, Janet Hanke, and Melissa Holland.
